oh where do my bluebird fly

quote from where do my bluebird fly by The tallest man on earth

I'm going to The tallest man on earth! I had bought the tickets quite a while ago but I haven't told you till just now. It's going to be so much fun, if you follow my blog you probably already know that I love his music. I'm going to the concert with my boyfriend and a friend.

lately I'm pretty busy with school n stuff, thats why I'm not posting that often anymore. But my life is going pretty well, It just took me some time to get in the school rhythm again. I've been writing some poems lately, in dutch so I'm not going to share them. yesterday I had a very happy moment playing banjo at sunset in my backyard. And the photo above is from a little feather collecting photo trip I had last week. And I love listening to the new vinyl record I bought, The last waltz from The band. I can find some happiness in these things, and even though I have some bad days too I think my life is quite enjoyable at the moment, a little busy but enjoyable.

Danse Serpentine

Last week in my art history class at school our teacher showed us this video. It shows Loïe Fuller performing the Danse Serpentine. The thing that I think to be so awesome and inspiring about it is that this was filmed with an analogue camera in 1896 and afterwards the individual pieces of film where painted. And they made her dress shifting colors. It is just so awesome that they did these things in 1896. I'd love to do something like this once, If I only had a film camera and and a lot of spare time...

this idea stuck in my head this entire week so I thought lets share it with you guys

happy moments

the last weeks of my vacation consisted of hanging out with friends and Tim. Me and 3 friends of mine went camping at the seaside for three days, it was a lot of fun. And a few days ago I bought a vinyl record player, for only 8 euros, oh how I love flea markets. finding something at a flea market you where searching for a long long time is a really happy moment to me. my dear summer holidays, I am going to miss you. I only got 2 school less days left before my senior year starts.

analog photos

I had my film developed a little while ago, and today I'm sharing some of the pic's I made with you. I used my zenit-E to make the photos. there where none failed pictures, that made me happy in the first place. I really like this camera, I got it from a friend. the SLR camera has been made in the USSR a long long time ago (about 40 years). The thing that I love about it is that it works without a battery, but it does has a light meter. when you want to take a picture, you first have to focus, that check the light meter than adjust your aperature and shutter speed, than pull the leaver for a new piece of film and then finally you can make the picture. A lot more work than with a digital camera but I think it's fun. (I can talk about camera's all day but I'll stop for now)
this is the guy that made these pic's possible

I'm back

last two weeks I went to buitenkunst, it is a camping in a pine wood. And it is one of my favorite places in the country. the awesome thing about it is that there are art workshops every day. I did some painting, singing, writing, and I even made a little animation film. I had a lovely time, the first week I was with my mum and sister and a friend of hers, and the second week I was with my little darling. It has been so inspiring to see other peoples work and just to be free of any obligations (except for washing the dishes) and just be creative.

happy moments

This Saturday I got my banjo. And I'm so happy with it. It is a gorgeous thing. every time I attend to play it I get insanely happy. I can't wait to be able to actually play a song.
maybe I'm going to make a little series of this, telling you guys what things make me happy.
oh and last two weeks I was on a vacation, so don't worry about me disappearing.

birds stil sing outside these windows

"And the birds still sing outside these
These windows where we sat together
  Like nothing ever happened here"

these are the first sentences from the song everything by Ben Howard. Ben Howard really is one of my favorites, pretty awesome music combined with pretty awesome lyrics. The wolves is an other favorite of mine. well I guess I just love all of his music, he should make a new album.

I guess the reason that I have this lyrics project is for a bit to share my favorite music but for a bigger part to practice with my (poster) design skills. I like creating these images. all of them are pics form vacations or random walks assembled with a quote form one of my favorite artists. And even tough these are not my most popular posts I don't stop making them because it are some of the posts I enjoy most making. And that is what blogging should be about don't you think? sharing stuff you like creating or talking about.

guest post:5 Stylish Ways To Wear Your Sunglasses!

Even though we all know sunglasses are mainly meant for protection, we can’t help but love them for their fashionable side as well. They look so cool in the hundreds of different styles out there, it’s getting harder and harder to decide which one to choose and how to wear them. When in need, we always turn to street style blogs for inspiration - and so we found some fresh ways of wearing sunglasses this summer.

this is a guest post by Daria P., a freelance writer/social media enthusiast, living in Romania. She loves all things cute: cats, fit-and-flare dresses, bikes, novelty prints, foxes, breakfast food, travels, Vespas etc! She is a contributor for CelebritySunglasseswatcher.com and GlassesOnWeb.com

1. With a headscarf. A reinvention of a classic. With a scarf wrapped around your head and your favorite shades on, you’re not only fully protected against the sun rays, but you also have that je ne sais quoi of Old Hollywood stars. Image from: Garance Dore

2. With bright lipstick. What’s your bold color of choice? Pink, orange, burgundy? Whichever you like, it’s a perfect fit for your sunglasses. Accent your lips and opt for more natural eye makeup, which you can hide under your cool frames. Image from: Citizen Couture

3. With a bun. Both the bun and the sunglasses are the epitomes of summer. So why not combine them? The back of your neck will be free to breathe, while you also get to show off your sunglasses temples. Image from: Forever Amber

4. With embellishments. This is probably the biggest trend eyewear has seen lately. Sunglasses are no longer plain, they come with glitter, with rhinestones and even with tiny animals! The good news is that they’re easy to DIY, using only your sunglasses and your imagination. Image from: Front Row

5. With all black. It’s not uncommon to wear black in summer, especially if you want something more formal. The sunglasses will make you look even more mysterious - or you can use bright ones for a pop of color. Image from: Posh 24

monthly tunes june & the blogloving switch

I selected 10 fresh new tunes for this month. And I love them all. I can get a little annoyed when I don't have new music every once in a while. And that time has come so this month half of the playlist are songs I don't really know, but sound great to me.
Talking about new things, as you probably already know Google reader is going to stop in two weeks. So in the future you can follow submarines and sewingmachines at bloglovin.

lately

though it isn't as warm as it was when I took these photos, it is still summer like with all little flowers and sunbeams. And I really like summer. Wonderful gracious summer. My life has been so so busy lately, I have had an exam week and Wednesday the re-exams will start. but after that its over, it will be all over, and the the glorious summer vacation will come like a messiah into my life and set me free from all the obligations. I am so longing for that time.

sometimes the blues is just a passing bird

"Oh sometimes the blues is just a passing bird
And why can't that always be
Tossing aside from your birches crown
Just enough dark to see
How you're the light over me"
this is the refrain of the song "the dreamer" by the tallest man on earth. I love the tallest man on earth, his lyrics are great, his voice is rough, and his guitar sounds great. yeah he is one of my faforites. If you don't know him, give it a try. Don't be scared by his a little odd voice, once you got used to it a little, his music is beautiful.

double exposures

I love double exposure photos. I'd really love to try this with film once, but for now digital editing is good enough. These photos are from a little photo shoot with Tim, and the overlays from several different occations, the first overlay is a scanned dia from my grand-aunt, the second is from a trip with Tim last summer, the third is just a little flower in the grass, the forth is from my trip with Tim to Brussels, and the fifth is our wood storage in the garden.
I had been experimenting with buildings as overlay this afternoon. And I made them all black and white. I have made some before, but those where in color and had several overlays, instant of one. If you like this, take a look at the tutorial I wrote about double exposure (for picmonkey). It is not that hard and it has great results.

-DIY- feathers in your hair

A little while ago a friend of mine was wearing feathers in her hair. And I loved it. Now I have it myself too. I'm walking around with these things in my hair for about a week now, and I got a lot of compliments about it. All credits go to Jaël, because she kind of invented it, and she putted them in my hair. Oh and the photos are by Tim. But I did wrote the tutorial myself :)

supplies
little feathers,
someone who can braid tiny braids
needle treader or piece of string (see tip 2)
silicone lined crimp beads (like these)
pliers

what to do
- take a little hair lock
- braid it from where it starts to the end.
- slide a crimpbeat on it (you can use a needle treader for that)
- put the feathers you choose in it too
- close the beat with the pliers

two

Two years ago he asked me if he was my boyfriend, today we're still together. And I hope we'll still be in love next year. I remember the first days of our relationship, I was a little shy, but hey I was only 14 (and about 11 months). who the hell finds true love at his/hers fourteenth. I must be an extremely lucky person.
but now I'm off to get my present for him finished.
ps I made a label for Tim posts, so click here if you want to be a creepy stalker like me ;)

monthly tunes may

I selected 10 new songs of the month. This time there is a lot of music from Edward sharp and the magnetic zeros. I love that band, I first saw them in a documentary, touring with Mumford and sons and the old crow. golden. just perfect. it was so awesome to see them all go wild on stage. I loved looking at that doc, and I'm deferentially going to do it again soon. It's called big easy express.
than there is some Beatles and Langhorne Slim, and some others. the jungle giants are also always good for a little smile on my face. And a new one to me: Caroline smith and the goodnight sleeps. why do all these bands have such long names?

ring + hipsterday

Since there were two ill teachers at my school, a lot of classes got canceled. To fill in our free time my school thought of something, we got to make our own ring, out of silver. It was great and I really liked the classes. I really like the way mine came out. And I'm going to wear it a lot. We were taught by Ralph Bakker.

we had a little vacation and me and Anke, a friend of mine, had a hipsterday. We planned to do this a long time, but back than it was winter, and we couldn't go outside to take nature pics. You can see the result below. Also see our pinterest board about it.
